This is not a "Traditional" TaeKwon Do Patch! It is a WTF patch symbolizing the World Taekwon Do Federation. There are two "Federations" with very contraversial distinctions between the two. ITF and WTF were the two forms of TaeKwon Do broken away from Generl Choi. WTF was adopted as the "South Korean" Formal Martial Art Style only for the purpose of entering the Olympics. This did not sit well with many of the "Grand Masters" who brought TaeKwon Do to General Choi's attention. ITF does not believe TaeKwon Do should be taught as a "Sport" with the sole purpose of "Climbing a Ladder" to reach the top, only to be knocked off the ladder some day. General Hon Sik Kim took his traditional style of TaeKwon Do as an "Art" of self defense used only to conquer a threatening force. ITF TaeKwon Do is taught to be "Lethal". Once punch, one kick, one kill when being attacked by an evil force. ITF believes TaeKwon Do should never be used outside of the DoJo unless absolutely necessary. It is a form of developing onces Physical Strength, Emotional Dexterity, and Mental Stability. We learn through Courtesy, Integrity, Perserverance, Self Control, and Indomitable Spirit.
